Venice
There are these gondolas and this Piazza San Marco, where lovers enjoy a walk. There are these palaces and museums, where culture fans escape the hubbub of crowds of tourists for a few hours. There are this know-how and these craft workshops, where both young and old are amazed. There is also this gastronomy to die for, these terraces facing the lagoon, and these hidden bars, where groups of friends savor the Italian sweetness of life… You will understand: Venice is one of our favorite cities!
If Venice is THE best romantic destination, the Serene Republic can be discovered with family and friends. Here are our best addresses for a successful weekend in Venice.
Lose yourself in the beauty of Venice!
How to resist the siren song of Venice? Onboard a lacquered wooden boat, we went up the lagoon to discover cultural foundations hidden in palazzi, small typical trattorias, or hotels with a view.
While getting lost in the city streets, at the exit of the Co Vino trattoria, we discovered Alessandro Merlin‘s studio. Step in Alessandro’s shop and be welcomed by superb artistic pottery. His unique creations are handcrafted in his workshop using ancient craft techniques. He embodies all the authenticity of Venice.
We fell for the mini bowls, and we chose to share this crush with you! Find the finesse of his crafted bowls in our e-shop.
Venice is an endless surprise ! The Venetian capital is full of unusual addresses. Around the corner, we discovered Sabbie E Nebbie, a Japanese stationery shop, and the Libreria Marcopolo, an independent bookstore presenting a feminist and committed selection of books. Each trip to Venice is an opportunity to rediscover its great cultural diversity.
Our city home
We move to Venice two to three times a year to spend a few days with family, friends, or just the both of us. We never got tired of its beauty. After resting in the incredible Casa Flora apartment of Hotel Flora, we will have coffee at the Marchini Time counter accompanied by the most famous Venetian biscuit: Zaeti.
The reputation of Italian coffee is well established. Leaning on the counter, the Italians savor their few drops of daily happiness before starting their day. Caffè Girani is a beautiful coffee shop where we put ourselves in the shoes of a Venetian and tasted real Italian coffee roasted on-site.
On the way, we stock up on traditional pasta at Cibo; we stroll in the morning freshness of the Rialto market and buy everything in sight from the stalls of Aliani Casa Del Parmigiano.
Our trips to Venice are undoubtedly marked by Italian gastronomy! For a delicious pizza, bet on AcquaPazza. For a romantic dinner, go to the terrace of the Gritti Palace. For dessert, nothing better than ice cream from Gelatoteca SuSo… Rather Stracciatella or Frutti di Bosco?
Our favorite adresses
Cult, secret – Vini da Arturo is both. For 40 years, Ernesto Ballarin has been known for his lovely Trattoria. Tom Ford, Tom Hanks, and Barbra Streisand have all dined here. But the cult following is also because of Ernesto himself, whose charming egocentricity fills the Trattoria with life and passion.
We also suggest lunch at Bar Ai Artisti, at Osteria La Zucca, or even on the ground floor of Harry’s Bar, where you might meet the legendary Mr. Cipriani, who also owns the Rainbow Room in New York.
When it comes to culture, Venice is as good as Rome or Florence! You can admire the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. A space that brings together the finest finds of this exceptional collector, accumulated after moving to Venice in 1948. We invite you to discover the Museum of Judaism and the history of the world’s first Ghetto. Finally, we love to end our trip to La Fenice theater, one of the most prestigious Italian opera temples, and enjoy a show.
We feel at home in Venice, the city of the Doges is the place of our fondest memories.
